A Good Parrot Owner's Promise
Written for me by Rosemary Wilson
I gave my bird breeder Judy this poem to thank her for helping me find the right
bird for me - a Quaker parrot.
I promise from this day on to love the birds I take care of until the day one of us dies.
I promise to fulfill his needs if he's in good health or bad.
I promise to give unconditional love and support to my bird.
I promise to nurture his good habits and ignore his bad ones.
I promise to never disregard my bird or hand him off if he becomes difficult at times.
I promise to find time to give to my bird every day for the rest of his life, even if my life is busy.
I promise to find care for my bird if I get sick or cannot fulfill my duties as his caregiver.
I promise to cherish my pet as an important part of my family and make it my business to know what is good for him.
I promise to keep in touch with my breeder and let her know that she's given her baby to the best possible home.
I promise to cherish the life of my baby into an adult and keep him safe from harm.
I promise to realize what a special pet a parrot is and fulfill his dietary needs.
I promise to always be a great companion to my parrot as he is to me.
I promise to see my parrot's life through his eyes and treat him as I would wish to be treated.
The love of a parrot is not hard to earn, but respect the gift he has given you and show him the same love.
Parrots are wonderful creatures... thank you for trusting me with one of yours.
